Right now it is about 2:30 PM on December 29th, 2017, and I am sitting in the sand on Waikiki Beach in Hawaii.
As I am looking out on the water, I am struck with the sudden realization of how close we are to reaching the New Year. Although I have done some reflecting on the passing year, and have thought a small amount about the things I would like to accomplish in the upcoming year, I have yet to write down or share any of these goals with anyone.
I am currently four Mai Tai’s deep, feeling relaxed, and looking at one of the most beautiful scenes this Earth has to offer...I can’t think of a more appropriate time to be introspective than now.
However, before I announce my goals for 2018, I would first like to take a moment to acknowledge all of the positive achievements that came about in 2017. Since you are reading this blog post on the West Coast Muscle website, I’d imagine that you are already pretty familiar with my story, the company, and the rest of the team. It is surreal to me to think about how much this idea has grown and expanded into something so tangible and thriving, and although it goes without saying at this point, the untiring support from all of you is what keeps this dream alive and growing. With that, your feedback is always appreciated, so please feel free to reach out to us and let us know how we’re doing!
Moving forward, I anticipate 2018 to be a big year of growth in all realms physical, personal, and professional.
Although I have high hopes for the New Year, I’ve honestly felt the focus toward my health and fitness start to slip, at least these last few months. I’ve still been making it into the gym most of when I’m supposed to, but I can feel myself just going through the motions. This is something that has followed me outside of the gym as well. My dedication to hitting my target macronutrients each day has wavered, and although I’ve been consistent with tracking what I eat, it is done so without purpose or direction. I think the reason for this is pretty simple...I don’t think I have been as focused or determined in the gym because I haven’t assigned any specific goals for myself.
For the last five to six months, I’ve really been able to gain strength and size without hitting any plateaus, and I think in the coming year this is something I would like to continue doing. Before I seriously shred down to a low body fat again, I would love to be able to hit a 300 lb bench press, a 405 lb squat, and a 450 lb deadlift. If my estimations are correct, I’m only about 20-30 lbs away from hitting each of those (if anybody cares).
As far as my personal goals go, I’m setting out to make more money overall to be able to invest in myself, my future, and West Coast Muscle. The first step to accomplishing this, for me, means finally obtaining my personal training certification to start taking on both in person and online clientele. Aside from investing more money into West Coast Muscle, my main investment goal for this year is to venture into real estate. I have a pretty solid network of individuals around me who I can turn to for guidance, and I fully believe in my capabilities to make this happen.
Professionally, the West Coast Muscle team has a lot of ambitions for the upcoming year. Although we haven’t openly announced it yet, we have dropped some pretty subtle hints on social media regarding office space. Upon seeing these hints, a lot of you reached out to us asking what’s up, and I’m very proud to announce that we’ll have a physical space to operate out of in the next few months. Our belief is that this office space will help provide us with the means to expand our vision, and ultimately put out better products and better, more consistent content. Once we get situated in the new space, a few of our goals include starting a podcast, starting to custom manufacture our own apparel, and making a bigger impact in our local area. Another big goal for us is to be able to document the entire process. We want to give you guys more insight as to who we are, and show you what goes on behind the scenes at West Coast Muscle.
In conclusion, I would like to thank all of you once again for your belief in us and your love for West Coast Muscle, and I ask that you please continue to show it, as it is the fuel to our fire. Similarly, I would like to thank the rest of the West Coast Muscle team for all that you guys do to help the company grow, and I ask that you please please please keep your heads down, stay focused, and continue to hustle in the upcoming year. I truly believe that all of the aforementioned goals are achievable, but not without the right amount of inputted work.
We had a good year everybody. Now let’s have another!
Happy New Year, and best of luck in 2018.
